Short answer: the Vietnam eVisa form takes about 15–20 minutes if you have everything ready. Almost every problem comes from four places: the name, the entry date, the address in Vietnam and the photos. Get those right and the rest is simple.
Have these ready
- Passport valid 6+ months after entry, with blank pages.
- A sharp scan of the bio page and a portrait photo. See the photo rules.
- Your arrival date and arrival airport or border crossing.
- A full address in Vietnam (your first hotel is fine).
- Occupation, employer or school name and address, home address and phone, and an emergency contact.
- An email you check, and a card for payment.
Field by field
- Name: exactly as in the machine-readable lines of the passport. Surname in the surname field, all given names (including middle names) in the other. No accents.
- Date of birth, sex, nationality: as in the passport. Double-check day and month.
- Passport number, type and expiry: check O vs 0 and I vs 1.
- Visa type: single or multiple entry. See which one you need.
- Length and entry date: your arrival date in Vietnam, or a day or two before. Never after. See entry date.
- Entry and exit checkpoints: where you arrive and leave. The main airport is the safe default.
- Address in Vietnam: number, street, ward, district, city. Not just "Hanoi".
- Occupation and contacts: fill everything, even fields that look optional.
- Uploads: portrait and passport page, two different JPG files under 2 MB.
- Review and pay: read everything once more against your passport before paying. After payment nothing can be changed.
Save your registration code, plus the email and date of birth you used. Without them you can't check the status or download the visa.
