Short answer: you upload two separate images: a portrait photo (4×6 cm proportion, white background, no glasses) and a scan of your passport bio page (the whole page, all four corners, sharp). Both as JPG files under 2 MB. Most delays and refusals come from these two uploads.
Portrait photo
- 4×6 cm proportion (portrait, not the square US 2×2 format).
- Plain white or very light background, in colour.
- Face straight on, neutral expression, eyes open, mouth closed.
- No glasses, no hat. Religious head coverings are fine if the whole face is visible.
- Taken within the last 6 months. No filters or beauty apps.
- Head and top of the shoulders in frame.
A phone photo works: stand facing a window in daylight, against a white wall, with the camera at eye level about half a metre away.
Passport bio page scan
- The whole page, with all four corners visible.
- The two machine-readable lines at the bottom must be sharp.
- No flash glare over the photo or text, no fingers over the page.
- A scan or a flat, straight photo of the real passport. Photos of a screen, photocopies and edited images get flagged as "low quality passport data page".
- Passport valid for at least 6 months after your entry date.
Upload errors and fixes

Can I crop my portrait from the passport scan?
It isn't recommended. It is usually too small and low quality, and it can be flagged as a duplicate.
