Vietnam eVisa "amendment required": how to fix it

Short answer: "Amendment required" means immigration wants something corrected or added before they decide. It is not a refusal. Your application and your government fee are still valid. You fix it inside the same application and pay nothing extra. After you resubmit, the review starts again, so allow another 3 to 5 working days.

Don't wait for an email

The common requests, and the fix

• "Low quality passport data page". Usually glare from a flash, blur or a cut-off corner. Retake it flat, in daylight, flash off, with all four corners and both code lines at the bottom sharp. A photo of a screen or a photocopy often triggers this too.
• Details don't match the passport. Enter the name exactly as in the machine-readable lines, without accents, with every middle name.

• Additional documents. Sometimes a hotel booking, return ticket or itinerary. Upload exactly what is asked.

How to resubmit

1. Open the application through the status search and choose the edit/amend option.
2. The form can look empty at first. Click through the steps: your data is still attached.
3. Fix everything that could be a problem, not only the item named. Requests often come one at a time, and each round costs days.
4. Check that the entry date hasn't changed, then resubmit.

Don't start a brand-new application for an amendment. That costs a second fee and creates a duplicate. The exception: if you now travel on a new passport, you need a new application with the new passport number.
