Short answer: "Processing" means an officer hasn't decided yet. It is not a refusal. Most applications on the official portal are decided within 3 to 5 working days, and longer around holidays. The portal doesn't let you speed up an existing application. If your flight is too close to wait, the practical choice is a new application on an urgent tier.

Count working days in Vietnam time (GMT+7). An application sent on Friday afternoon is often not looked at until Monday or Tuesday.

An application sometimes changes from "processing" to "amendment required" or a request for extra documents, and no email is sent.
